In Good Company

I was In Good Company the first weekend in May. I went to New Haven, CT to perform with Adele Myers and Dancers. I love dancing for her. I love the work, the dancers, the attitude. I am also her company manager and have begun designing most of her press, programs, posters, postcards, etc. and love that too. It’s just a very rewarding and awesome experience and I can’t wait to find more dance and people that are like the people I have met in them. My only complaint is that I don’t rehearse enough with Adele and those fabulous women!

The show, In Good Company, was a great experience, almost a retreat to Connecticut. We spent the time at Adele’s house, and Connecticut College where I taught 2 dance/technology classes. We also took David Dorfman’s class as a company which was fabulous and were able to do a showing for the students. It’s such an awesome, nurturing environment and the students are fabulous. The show was not only AM&D, but MacArthur Dance Project, David Dorfman’s choreography, and Lisa Race. I have to say that Lisa Race is a god among women and was absolutely awe-inspiring in her solo.

Can I do this every weekend?

It doesn’t even have to be happy…

I just finished watching a movie called “The Dead Girl.” I just wasted 86 minutes of my life. This movie began 5 different movies and never finished one of them. All the stories intertwined, but if I wanted to come to my own conclusions about why she died, why she had cuts on her hands, how she got to that park, or any number of other things…too bad because you only get to watch the beginning of each person’s story. If I wanted to use my imagination to finish stories and create endings for movies, I would make them or I would just lay in my bed for 86 minutes and create them in my head. However, when I watch a movie, I want to watch someone else’s story and how it all unfolded. I want endings damn it! They don’t even have to be happy. This movie didn’t even give me a denouement.

Birthdays & Anniversaries

This is a follow up to the “In the mean time…” post. I thought I should write a smidge about those two great days myself. So here goes.

I turned 27 last month. Keith and I went to the Cherry Blossom Festival for my day and followed it up with dinner and a movie. We live in NYC now and we still fall toward dinner and a movie as our most common date, we are funny that way. It was a great day aside from the fact that it declares me one year closer to older.

May 9th was our 3 year anniversary. We are getting married one year from that day next year, still weird but getting less and less weird each day. It was a big day for us this year so we went to Babbo’s (which stands for casual cuisine served in an uptight package) and Serendipity3 (which stands for ‘eat sweets until you puke’) and apparently celebrated eating too much. We wrote about it on our wedding site so go there to read more - click here - there are pictures there too. Even though there were some uptight parts, no one puked and all the food was fabulous! We had a great night.

In the mean time…

I’m pretty busy and a bit preoccupied lately. So if you want to know of some of what is going on with me via the eyes of another. Go to www.paralogki.com and see the last couple posts made on April 30th, titled Cherry Blossoms (about my birthday), and May 6th, titled In Good Company (about my most recent performance). I will post soon.

P.S. Happy Mothers Day to my Mom, my sister (her first mothers day) and my friend Dawn, who had her beautiful girl at 2:30 this morning! :)
